In a valiant declaration of free love, female artists Julian P Boom, and Fleur Pierets, who originate from Belgium, have sold all their belongings to fund their mission to marry legally in every country where same-sex marriage is legal.
Entitled Project 22 and widely supported by international gay rights activists, the two women have already married in New York, Antwerp, Amsterdam, and Paris.
“We have tried to make it very inclusive,” explains Pierets. “We talked about how we can raise awareness on this subject matter and make it very positive. So instead of complaining about 170 countries where you cannot get married, let’s celebrate 24” nations where gay marriage is legal.”
Same-sex marriage is legal in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and Uruguay; and is soon to be legalised in Taiwan.
It is estimated that the project will take around two years to complete.
